Camp Necessities

NOTICE TO PARTICIPANTS

Although the weather is usually warm, participants should be prepared for any changes in the weather and bring appropriate clothing for all conditions - i.e. hot, cold, wet. 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1 X long sleeved sweater
1 X weather proof jacket (parka or similar)
3 X pairs of track bottoms / long trousers
3 X pairs of shorts
3 X T-Shirt
1 X smart casual clothing
2 X suitable night wear
1 X spare clothing
4 X underwear
4 X pairs of socks
2 X pair of sports shoes / sneakers
1 X pair of slippers
2 X Towels
1 X Torch and batteries



Personal toiletries, personal medication, insect repellent, water bottle/container for drinking.

 **Drinking water ONLY will be provided by YES Camp Organizer.

Please submit the completed Registration Form together with Cheque payment of RM300.00  to:

latest by 30th November 2010. Remember that the camp is limited to 120 participants only - on first come first serve basis.

FREE Tranportation

START OF CAMP : 16TH DECEMBER 2010
Please to be at YMCA Brickfields (Entrance) by 8.00am. Buses will leave the station at 8.30am sharp.

END OF CAMP : 19TH DECEMBER 2010
Buses will leave the camp at 2.00pm. Parent or guardian expected to be at YMCA Brickfields (Entrance) at 4.00pm to pick up the participants for home.

The parent or guardian can contact the following Lions on duty at YMCA Brickfields, on the departure and return date:

Parent or guardian who wish to bring the participant directly to the camp by private transport, please ensure such arrangements are informed to the Lions YES Camp Organizing Secretary.

The Lions YES Camp Organizing Secretary should also be kept fully informed on the travel itinerary of all youths so that transport to the camp can be planned in advance.


Where is YMCA KL?

YMCA KL is located opposite KL Sentral which is the centre of modern transportation and within walking distance to banks and food outlets. Only 10-15 minutes away by Putra LRT and Monorail to KLCC, Central Market, Berjaya Times Square, Bukit Bintang Walk and other major Shopping Centres and also 28 minutes away from KLIA via KLIA Expres.

Rail Services

The following services serve to Station KL Sentral:

• Express Rail Link (ERL): high-speed airport train
o KLIA Ekspres: high-speed direct train to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)
o KLIA Transit: high-speed commuter train service to KLIA

• KTM Komuter: Klang Valley electric commuter train service
o Sentul-Port Klang Line
o Rawang-Seremban Line with the Rawang-Kuala Kubu Bharu Shuttle Route

• KTM intercity trains: intercity trains. These trains ply routes from Kuala Lumpur to Padang Besar, Singapore and also the East Coast up to Tumpat.

• RapidKL Rail
o Kelana Jaya Line: Kelana Jaya-Terminal Putra light rail transit (LRT) service

• KL Monorail's KL Sentral station is across busy Jalan Tun Sambanthan, a 150m walkway under covered walk lane.


Bus Services

KL Sentral has also been made a city bus hub by rapidKL under its bus network revamp. It is the bus hub for city shuttle (BANDAR) bus routes and trunk (UTAMA) bus routes.

Buses to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Main and Low Cost Carrier Terminals (LCCT) operate from KL Sentral, while other bus operators go near KL Sentral along Jalan Tun Sambanthan.

• Trunk buses: U60, U63, U64, U65, U66, U67, U68, U69, U70, U71, U72, U73, U74, U75, U76, U80, U81, U82, U83, U84, U85, U87, U88, U423

Camp Information

LOCATION

The District 308B1 Lions YES Camp 2010 will be held at Kem Bina Semangat, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor. The camp site is about one (1) hour’s drive from YMCA Brickfields KL (Entrance).


DURATION

The camp will be held for four (4) days, commencing on 16th December 2010 (Thursday) and concluding on 19th December 2010 (Sunday).


COST

The fee is RM300.00 for each participant. All applications must reach the Camp Organizing Secretary not later than Tuesday, 30th November 2010. The payment must be made crossed and payable to “LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 308-B1”.


REFUNDS

No refund will be issued for participants withdrawing from the Camp. A suitable substitute is allowed up to 7 days prior to the camp.


SPONSORSHIP

Participants must be sponsored by a Lions, Lioness or Leo Club.


SELECTION

The camp caters for up to 120 participants ranging from 14 to 19 years old on First Come First Serve basis. They will be selected on the basis of an even mix of youth of different races, culture and Geographical areas. Apply early to ensure successful selection. The decision of the Committee on the selection of participants is final.


HEALTH

Participants should be of healthy body and mind.

LANGUAGE

Participants should command a minimum proficiency of the English language. This is the official language of the Camp.


FOOD AND LODGING

Separate blocks for males and for females are provided.

3 breakfasts, 3 morning tea breaks, 4 lunches, 3 afternoon tea breaks, 3 dinners and 3 light suppers will be provided. Vegetarian food can also be arranged.
